In 1966, Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries. At that time, he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift which operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" which was utilized to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism greatly impressed customers and thus, the name was born.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into various new markets, because the need for work lifts and platforms grew. Over time, when the demand for new machines to meet many applications grew, the company made itself recognized in numerous new markets. For instance, Genie went into making light towers, man-lifts, articulated booms, telehandlers and stick booms.
Genie decided to acquire a partner who held the same values as a result of the economic slump during the start of the 2000s, when they partnered together with Terex. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers all over the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the initial years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Thus, all Genie machines continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their clients. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on offering outstanding support. These are the very work disciplines which have made Genie a trusted brand over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality machinery.
The DC and Bi-Energy machines offered by Genie provide quiet operation, emission-free even in the most delicate work settings. Where the equipment should be driven significant distances, like for example in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC machinery with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach, as opposed to any of the different aerial platforms. These machines are ideal for small areas or limited access areas in all kinds of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to provide utmost productivity. These machinery deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you need in order to travel around the work site and job area.
