On a lift truck, you'll find a range of different ways that raise and lower the lifts, including: rack and pinion lifts, scissor lifts, screw lifts, telescoping lifts and articulated lifts. The scissor lift uses crisscrossed folding supports with a screw system which draws the members together. Rack and pinion lifts utilize a pinion, which is a small drive gear, to drive a straight-toothed rack to raise the cargo. The telescoping lift system is designed with multiple sections which extend and retract into and out of each other to achieve lifting action. Screw lifts utilize threads to raise the lift. Articulated lifts utilize a mechanism that involves multiple parts which articulate or unfold. An example of an articulated lift is the "cherry picker."
Forklift Material Handling
There are a lot of reasons to keep up with innovations in material handling processes. Material handling methods and the tools could be utilized to deal with increased geographical coverage, more SKUs, and the need to lower inventories. Machinery that are well ahead of the technological curve can help productivity maximization and increase effectiveness.
Forklift Battery & Charging Technology
The newest innovations on electric lift trucks have yielded longer run-times and higher capacities than ever before, that makes the decision to convert from the traditional IC forklift over to the improved electric models. Battery and charger combinations are offering more power for much longer periods than older systems can achieve. Improvements in both battery and charger technologies are not only making electric forklifts more beneficial but they are making it possible to have warehouse operations that are more environmentally friendly.
The electric powered equipment use Lithium-Ion Batteries or Li-ion batteries. The Li-ion batteries show incredible promise, though this technology is still quite new. They are not just smaller but are capable of holding up to six times the charge of standard lead acid batteries. Li-ion batteries have extremely low maintenance requirements and are able to maximize opportunity charging through zero memory technology.
